That piece by Viet Cuong is most definitely fun! Thanks for posting it.

NTT: the hint is actually making it harder for me to come up with possibilities. My first guesses were along the lines of Resphigi or Enescu (i.e., early twentieth century, non-German). However, I wouldn't think of either of those as one-hit wonders (and certainly not for a solo instrumental work). I don't even think he'd be of the same generation, but with the hint my guess will be Sarasate because I know nothing of his other than his big solo violin piece.

Name that tune: what an arresting string entrance. I also hear winds/brass, modern use of percussion (the triangle exclamations!), a steady beat (although not necessarily a steady meter), and of course, the string ostinato, all of which lead me to believe this is a late 20th c or early 21st c composer who perhaps writes for film. My two-week streak of music that overlaps with my knowledge is over! As to the clue: the only one-instrument one-hit wonder I can think of is Yiruma. I don't know band/film composers, so my basket this week will have to be very light.
