In Will’s world, “everything” seemingly consists solely of housing development and music, and honestly that tracks.

And I see that humanity’s goal of transcribing the chaconne for every conceivable instrument is proceeding apace. It’s wonderful, but watching the performer leaning over the koto to play it hurts my back.

I was hoping you'd tie it back to Michelle Wu/Gershwin, but it seems we were dropped into Will's new urbanism newsletter headfirst! ;)

NTT: I can't say that I have any other thoughts than Haydn.

NTT: My 1st impression was a strong one, so I'm going to put all my money on Haydn, especially with the London clue.  (Mozart was there, too, but I recall he was a young child at the time.)

Classical in style. I hear violin, oboe, bassoon, a couple of horns, maybe a cello?  Sounds a bit like chamber music in this section, except there's most definitely an orchestra intro. Perhaps a violin concerto. Or part of a movement of one of his 12 London Symphonies (but not one of the more familiar "named" ones like Drumroll, London, Surprise, etc.).

NTT: My guess is some sort of Sinfonia Concertante, Mozart if I had to specify? His are the only ones of the period I have any familiarity with (but not enough to know if this is indeed one of his). Haydn would be my second guess.
